Freelance Content Writer - Card Rips & Mystery Boxes

editorialremotefreelance

We're looking for reliable, self-sufficient freelance Content Writers to join our writer pool and produce SEO-driven card rips / card breaks content, and mystery boxes content in general. You'll work from detailed, keyword-led briefs, deliver clean copy to deadline, and action feedback quickly. You'll be working closely with the Editors and Content Production Coordinator, who assigns your articles and is your main day-to-day contact. This is a high-volume environment, so consistency matters as much as quality. Strictly no AI content. The strongest writers in our pool get priority for specialised topics as well as new requests, so there's scope to build up a steady, ongoing stream of assignments.

Core Responsibilities

  • Write original, engaging, English SEO-optimised content about card rips, card breaks and mystery boxes that follows the brief and our house style guide
  • Cover platform and breaker reviews, “best of” roundups, head-to-head comparisons, and category guides (sports cards, Pokémon, vintage, live breaks)
  • Explain how breaks and rips work (formats, pricing, fees, shipping, grading) in plain language for hobby newcomers and experienced collectors
  • Meet agreed deadlines consistently and flag any risk of slippage early
  • Follow keyword and on-page SEO instructions, including keyword placement and linking
  • Fact-check claims against official sources. Never publish unverified platform, pricing or odds details
  • Take your own screenshots and follow our visuals guidelines
  • Self-edit before submission. Copy should arrive proofread, formatted and ready for QA
  • Act on editorial feedback and revision requests promptly
  • Keep the Content Production Coordinator updated on your availability and capacity
  • Submit accurate invoices in line with our freelancer payment schedule

Requirements

  • Real knowledge of the trading card hobby. You know random-team breaks, box and case breaks, hits and chase cards, and how digital rip platforms differ from live breakers
  • Hands-on experience collecting, ripping or watching breaks is a strong plus
  • Native-level written English with excellent grammar, spelling, and self-editing ability
  • Ability to follow detailed briefs and style guides without hand-holding
  • Reliable, deadline-driven, and responsive to communication
  • Comfortable with keyword-driven writing and on-page SEO fundamentals
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (WordPress or similar) and project management tools (Monday.com or similar)
  • Compliance with our AI use policy. Content must be human-written, with original insight and detail
  • Registered as self-employed or able to invoice for your work

What We Offer

  • Clear, detailed briefs with keyword research provided, so you can focus on writing
  • A paid test article to start, then consistent, ongoing assignments for writers who deliver well
  • Competitive per-word rates
  • Reliable, on-time payment and a responsive point of contact
